Since January 2025, the Center for Instructional Technology has collaborated with partners from across and beyond our campus to advance campus-wide accessibility through a comprehensive strategy focused on compliance, education, and continuous improvement. A brief summary of some efforts is given below.
Policy and Compliance
- Implemented updated Digital and Web Resources Accessibility Policy aligned with Title II requirements.
- Established processes for vendor accessibility reviews, including VPAT documentation and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Training and Awareness
- Delivered workshops and webinars on digital accessibility best practices, covering accessible course design, document remediation, and web accessibility testing.
- Published guides and checklists for creating accessible content across platforms (Word, PowerPoint, mobile apps).
Technical Resources
- Developed updated internal testing protocols for newly adopted accessibility evaluation tools.
- Created interactive learning materials and accessibility activities for faculty and staff.
Vendor and Platform Reviews
- Conducted accessibility assessments for third-party tools and campus systems, initiating remediation plans where needed.
Collaboration and Support
- Joined campus-wide compliance efforts through recurring accessibility meetings.
- Expanded support by recruiting and updating liaisons dedicated to accessibility initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Performed audits of digital resources to maintain accessibility standards.
- Engaged in professional development and external forums to stay current with accessibility trends.
